Hey Bleacher Report, that skyline you featured with the Damian Lillard trade news, it's not Milwaukee
"Welcome to Milwaukee" was a popular trend on social media Wednesday afternoon in the hours after the Milwaukee Bucks made a blockbuster trade for superstar guard Damian Lillard.
But it appears some folks need a major geography lesson on Milwaukee.
As social media got into a frenzy when reports broke that the seven-time All-Star was being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, a graphic from Bleacher Report featured Lillard alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. It's an image that as of Thursday morning has been re-shared by nearly 29,000 accounts on the social media platform X, including by NBA on TNT.

A skyline was shown in the background. It was a very clean-looking image with the two stars shown larger than life as they look to take over the basketball world next season. The only problem?
Those buildings are definitely not in Milwaukee. It was Calgary's skyline.
The NBA world should know all about the Bucks and city of Milwaukee as they've been one of the most successful teams in the last half decade. And the Deer District around Fiserv Forum, the Bucks' home arena, filled with tens of thousands of fans was repeatedly shown on national broadcasts during the team's run to the NBA title two years ago.
Moreover, if you needed a reminder on Milwaukee's skyline, you just have to look at the shoes of Arike Ogunbowale, the WNBA star from Divine Savior Holy Angels.
Social media, of course, took notice of this blunder with many locals baffled by the error.

Designer: We don’t have a pic of the Milwaukee skyline.

It appears the skyline used is of Calgary. When did that Canadian city get an NBA team?
Great trade and all.
But why are Lillard & Giannis standing infront of the skyline of Calgary and not Milwaukee?— David Boles (@DavidJBoles) September 27, 2023

This isn't the first time a major sports team has gotten confused on where Milwaukee is. The San Francisco Giants got us mixed up with Minneapolis this season.
