'He's going to save boxing': Mike Tyson raves about Jake Paul in Netflix documentary

You may love or hate Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

You may even think his venture into boxing is a sham to the history-rich sport.

But Mike Tyson – one of boxing's greatest and most popular superstars – believes otherwise.

"He did more for boxing than some of the champions did," Tyson says in the new Netflix movie, "Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child".

"We got to keep this guy bright because he’s going to save boxing – as long as he continues to fight. He got the light, you know what I mean? He’s touched. He got the light."

Tyson’s comments, as controversial or as legitimate as they seem, validates Paul and the impact he’s made through seven fights in his combat sports career.

"Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child" is about Paul’s rise to celebrity through YouTube and other social media outlets, and the genesis of his boxing career.

His brother Logan Paul, who also turned his YouTube ventures into celebrity boxing matches against Floyd Mayweather and stints in World Wrestling Entertainment, is also a vital character in the documentary film.

The film also highlights a sibling rivalry between the Paul brothers, and how they reconnected through personal hardships caused by their social media antics.

When is Jake Paul’s next fight?

Paul’s next fight will be against face former UFC legend Nate Diaz in a 10-round boxing match on Aug. 5 at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The fight will be Paul’s eighth career fight, and will be distributed on pay per view through DAZN and ESPN+.

Diaz, who has a 22-13 record since 2004 in mixed martial arts, will be making his boxing debut.

What is Jake Paul's record as a boxer?

Paul holds a 6-1 record as a boxer, with his first loss coming in his last fight earlier this year.

Paul suffered a loss against Tommy Fury, brother of boxing champion Tyson Fury, on Feb. 27 in Saudi Arabia. It was a split decision: two judges scored the fight 76-73 for Fury, while the other judge 75-74 in favor of Paul.

Paul has beaten UFC legend Anderson Silva, former UFC champion Tyron Woodley twice, and former UFC fighter Ben Askren during his career.

Paul’s first boxing fights were against fellow YouTube entertainers, dating back to 2018.
