Track rewind: How local track teams fared this week

COLON - The Dale Shook Invitational took place in Colon on Friday evening.

The Magi brought home a couple of first-place finishes.

Macey Burgess leaped to first place in the high jump event, clearing a height of 4-10 feet. Burgess was also a part of the mile relay team which took first place.

Burgess, Megann Mullins, Lily Preston and Reese Williams teamed up to run a time of 4:48.28 in that event.

Williams also claimed second in the long jump at 13-7.5 feet while Preston was fifth at 12-6 feet. Preston logged a time of 1:14.30 to finish third in the 400-meter run.

Ruby Bower was fourth in the 100 dash at 14.27 seconds, she also claimed fifth in the 200 at 30.24 seconds. Williams was third overall in the 100 at 14.02 seconds.

For the boys, Garry Lord finished second overall in the pole vault, clearing a height of 7-6 feet. Wilhelm Lohmeyer finished fourth in the long jump at 16-1 feet.

Three Rivers at Otsego

Three Rivers split a conference dual at Otsego last week. The boys won 92-45 and the girls fell 104-32

Lamonta Stone won the 100 dash at 11.33 seconds, a personal record. Jeremiah Marzett was tops for the Cats in the 200 meters at 24.43 seconds while Kyler Copenhaver won the 400 run at 54.12 seconds.

Sulley Zietlow ran to first place in the 800 at 2:07.72.

Lucas Salinas won the shot put with distance of 44-11 feet. He also won the discus with a toss of 130-6 feet. Both were personal records.

For the girls, Allie McGlothlen won the high jump at 5-2 feet.

The 800 relay saw Savannah Headley, Rylea Summey, Ladina Naegeli and Calista Lockwood claim first at 1:55.20.

Megan Hammon won the discus at 94-5.25 feet.

Lockwood ran to first in the 100 dash at 13.67 seconds. Jennifer Hernandez won the 800 at 2:43.71.

The Cats also ran at Gull Lake on Friday. The boys were sixth with 66.5 points, the girls placed 10th with 31 points.

Gull Lake Invitational

The Constantine and Three Rivers track teams competed at the Gull Lake Invitational on Friday. The Cats took sixth for the boys at 66.5 points and 10th for the girls at 31 points. Constantine was fifth for the boys at 70 and the girls were seventh with 49.5 points.

Bennett VandenBerg won both the shot put (47-8.5 feet) and discus (165-0.5 feet) events for the Falcons. Brody Jones claimed first place in the pole vault at 11-6 feet.

Jaedyn Herlein won both hurdles for the Constantine girls. She posted a time of 17.87 seconds in the 100 and 51.57 seconds in the 300. She also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 14-10 feet.

Michael Featherstone came in second place in the pole vault for Constantine at 9-6 feet.

Stone ran to third in the 100 (12.14 seconds) and the 200 (23.80 seconds).

Constantine's Rushawn James ran to third in the 300 hurdles at 42.65 seconds. James was third in the long jump at 18-9 feet.

Salinas was second in the shot put at 44-2.5 feet, Zander Barth was third at 41-6.5 feet.

Kailee Jones of Constantine was fourth at 2:36.27 in the 800 run.

The Falcon 800 relay team of Headley, Naegeli, Summey and Lockwood posted a time of 1:57.78 to finish third overall.

Bronson at Branch County area's best

The Bronson track and field teams competed at the Branch County Area's Best meet held on Saturday.

Boston Bucklin ran to first place in the 400 run at 54.07 seconds.

Stevie Wilson finished second at 44.73 seconds in the 300 hurdles.

Bucklin, Wilson, Kam Brackett and Tyler Wilber came in second place in the mile relay with a time of 3:47.81.

Brackett was second in the high jump, clearing 5-9 feet. Bucklin was third at 5-6 feet.

Brycen Fincham came in third in the pole vault at 9-6 feet.

Jaiden Hayes ran to third place in the 100 dash at 13.59 seconds. Itzel Albarran finished third in the 200 at 29.85 seconds. Hayes came in second in the 300 hurdles at 53.45 seconds.

Albarran, Addison Calloway, Yelssi Herrera and Ashley Gallegos finished second in the 400 relay, their time was 56.61 seconds.

Skylar Smith was second in the discus at 89-0.25 feet. She was second in the high jump at 4-6 feet as well. Hayes posted a long jump of 14-3 feet for third.
