Here's how girls basketball teams fared in Thanksgiving tournaments over the weekend

Here are the girls high school basketball results from around Springfield over the weekend.

A litany of teams participated in holiday tournaments. Here's how they fared:

AT WAVERLY

Auburn, North Mac, Kincaid South Fork and Concord Triopia each won their first two games to start the Waverly Thanksgiving girls basketball tournament.

High school football playoffs: Scores, schedule from around the Springfield area

Auburn defeated Litchfield 56-21 and North Mac dropped White Hall North Greene 59-26 on Saturday. South Fork erased a nine-point deficit after three quarters and rallied to beat South County 54-47, while Triopia beat Carrollton 49-32.

Addison Wheatley totaled 14 points and Chloe Crissy chipped in 10 to lead a balanced attack for Auburn against Litchfield.

The Trojans trounced White Hall North Greene 70-8 on Friday. Karlissa Clark, Reese Megginson and Wheatley scored 12 points apiece to lead Auburn. Clark had all of her points in the first half, as did Megginson as she was 8-for-8 from the foul line.

Abby Hendricks scored 44 points in her first two games to lead North Mac to its two wins. Hendricks put in five 3-pointers and dropped in 23 points in North Mac’s 55-28 victory over Litchfield on Friday.

Hendricks had 15 points by halftime and teammate Taylor Kiers scored 12 of her 14 before the break. Karleigh Prose added 11 points for North Mac.

North Mac school board says it 'overstepped' seeking volleyball coach's dismissal

Hendricks had 21 points against North Greene on Saturday, with 13 coming in the first half. Prose went 9-for-13 from the charity stripe to finish with 17 and Kiers scored 14 in the win.

South Fork converted 11 of 16 free throws in the fourth period to get by South County. The Ponies outscored the Vipers 23-7 in the final quarter and finished 26-for-44 at the line. Angelina Ippolito scored 22 points and ReJeana Carricker and Jayden Neal scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Ippolito — leading all scorers in the tournament with 50 points total — had 28 in South Fork's 58-39 win over Carrollton on Friday. She finished making 11 field goals, including one 3-pointer. Jara Shoulders and Lilly Wake contributed 12 points apiece for Kincaid.

South County dropped to 0-2 in the tournament after losing to Triopia 34-27 on Friday.

Athens football punches first ticket to state with drubbing over Shelbyville in 2A semis

AT NOKOMIS

Nokomis walloped Vandalia 59-28 to come away with first place in its home tournament on Saturday.

Both Alivia Sabol and Kinley Stolte were named to the all-tournament team. Sabol led the team with 11 points in the title game. Stolte had eight points and four rebounds.

NHS (4-0) won a pair of games on Friday to reach the title game.

Natalie Brownback hit two 3s and scored 13 points in Nokomis’ 45-33 victory over Pawnee. Sabol chipped in nine.

Sabol had 12 points in the second game as Nokomis beat Piasa Southwestern 32-22. Brownback scored seven in the win.

Rochester football back in familiar territory: Playing for a state championship

AT TAYLORVILLE

Taylorville opened with a 3-0 start in its holiday tournament. It knocked off Hillsboro 71-35 on Friday before netting wins over Jacksonville (51-19) and Rochester (47-31) on Saturday.

The Tornadoes will resume the tournament on Friday against Mount Zion and Saturday against Bethalto Civic Memorial.

Mount Zion dialed up eight 3-pointers and cruised past Jacksonville 70-15 on opening night.

Prep spotlight: Auburn’s Crissey leads top trio of Trojans over North Mac

Denver Anderson buried four 3s for Mount Zion and finished with a game-high 23 points. Teammate Jocelyn Turner made nine field goals and added 20.

Mount Zion defeated Hillsboro 62-34 but lost to Civic Memorial 41-25 on Saturday. Civic Memorial also defeated Rochester 49-23 and Jacksonville 66-11 over the weekend.

Rochester grabbed its first win 39-35 over Hillsboro.

AT PANA

Mia Brawner scored 14 points and teammate Delaney Taylor had 11, but Gillespie fell to Mattoon 74-50 at the Pana Tournament on Friday.

Emily Maple drained three 3-pointers, went 7-for-7 from the foul line and scored a game-high 26 points to lead Mattoon.

Gillespie came back on Saturday and picked up two wins by beating Pana 53-38 and Okaw Valley 59-29. Brawner scored eight points in each half and finished with 16 against Pana. Becca Crays added 12 and Amari Vickery tallied 10 for Gillespie.

Brawner had 16 points again against Okaw Valley, and Vickery made three 3-pointers in the first period and finished with 10.

Lincoln's late rally comes up short in 3A state volleyball championship match

AT CLINTON

Jayce Privia and Karlie Hoke combined for 29 points and Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central topped Stanford Olympia 58-28 to win the Clinton Turkey Tussle on Saturday.

Privia supplied 15 points while Hoke had 14. Both were named to the all-tournament team. Carson Arthalony added nine points in the finale.

PORTA also knocked off Deer Creek-Mackinaw 44-42 and Decatur St. Teresa 47-33 in the tournament.

AT GALESBURG

Emma Scheffler drained three 3-points and finished with a game-high 15 points in Springfield High’s 48-37 victory over Pekin in its first of two games on Saturday in the Galesburg Shootout.

Keziah Toran and Aniyah Rhinehouse added 11 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

Rhinehouse finished with a team-best 10 points while Toran had eight in a 56-29 loss to Galesburg in the second game.

Lincoln's Becca Heitzig, Chatham Glenwood girls make history at cross country state finals

Regular season games

LANPHIER 58, CHAMPAIGN CENTENNIAL 29: At Lober-Nika Gym, Lanphier exploded in the second and third periods and recorded a nonconference win on Saturday.

The Lions (2-1) outscored Centennial 39-14 in the two quarters. Aubrey Beavers led Lanphier with a game-high 21 points. Lovely Jackson contributed 11 points and Angel Price and Nikeya Walker chipped in nine apiece.

Lanphier started the week with a 36-14 win at Urbana before losing at home to East Peoria 52-35.

PLEASANT PLAINS 53, EDWARDSVILLE 42: At Pleasant Plains, Anna Weber scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the second half and Pleasant Plains pulled away from Edwardsville to record a nonconference win on Thursday.

Plains (1-1) led 21-18 at the half and opened up a seven-point lead heading into the final quarter. Weber had eight points in the third and teammate Bailey Leach had a 3-pointer and scored five in the period. Weber and Leach each scored seven points apiece in the fourth.

Weber made seven field goals and went 11 for 15 from the free-throw line. Leach finished with three 3s and added 15 points.

Lainey McFarlin hit four 3-pointers and led Edwardsville (0-1) with 18 points.

CARLINVILLE 36, ATHENS 26: At Carlinville, Jordyn Loveless and Isabella Tiburzi combined for 19 points in a nonconference victory on Thursday.

After taking a three-point lead into intermission, Carlinville outscored Athens 19-12 in the second half. Loveless finished with a team-leading 10 points and Tiburzi netted nine.

Athens’ Zoe Laird nailed a pair of 3-pointers, went 6 for 7 on free throws and led all scorers with 16 points.
