Harrison Barnes ‘known to be on Boston’s radar’: Amick

It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics are looking for “shooting with size” after team president Danny Ainge went on local sports radio to share his views of what the franchise ought to be doing with its historically large traded player exception (TPE) generated by the Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade in the offseason.

It’s also fairly well-known that a number of analysts and plenty of fans covet veteran Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes seems to be the consensus pick at the top of many a wish list for such a player to target. Now, in a new article discussing the lay of the land with regards to the 2021 NBA trade market, The Athletic’s Sam Amick relates that the swingman is indeed “known to be on Boston’s radar”.

Amick is careful to note what more than a few astute analysts have also pointed out — namely, that Barnes has been a big boon to the Kings unexpected success, making the possibility of a trade less likely with every win no matter how poorly he fits with the team’s developing age curve.

That could change if Sacramento’s fortunes turn, but at least for now Celtics fans can take comfort that if they do, he is at least an option Boston is reportedly considering.
