Hanson girls win at Cornbelt Conference cross country meet

Sep. 22—FREEMAN, S.D. — Canistota boys and Hanson girls won the Cornbelt Conference cross country meet on Wednesday in Freeman.

The Hanson boys finished in second, six points behind Canistota, while McCrossan came in third place with 20 points. In the girls division, Menno finished second with 25 points, while Howard finished third with 29 points and Canistota came in fourth with 33 points.

Canistota's Josiah Schroeder took first place in the boys division with a time of 16:42.56, while Howard's Caden Schwader finished second with a time of 18:08.75. In the girls race, Hanson's Taziah Hawkins came in first place with a time of 21:42.81, beating Menno's Ashton Massey who came in second at 21:46.79.

With Hawkins finishing first, Hanson had runners finish in first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place. As a team, Hanson had eight points, beating Menno by 17.
