When you’ve won 35 state titles, a certain respect is put on your name.

The Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association released its All-Ohio teams, and the Greater Akron area once again leads the way.

Walsh Jesuit’s Hannah Pachan was named the Division I Player of the Year for girls soccer, and on the boys side Revere’s Dylan Halm picked up the Division II Player of the Year and Minutemen mentor Nick DePompei was named the Division II Coach of the Year.

Pachan led the Warriors to their 11th state title Friday with a 2-1 win over Olentangy Liberty. The junior finished the season with 33 goals and 11 assists.

“She embodies everything we try to do,” Walsh coach Javier Iriart said. “She’s such a great team player. She’s so humble. She’s the kindest kid off the field. She’s light’s out on it. I’ve been doing this for 16 years. I’ve never seen a kid do what she does.”

Revere's Dylan Halm has an incredible senior season in boys soccer

Halm was part of a runner-up team that only lost 2-0 in the state final against Tippecanoe.

The senior finished with 32 goals and 10 assists.

“He’s that guy we need as far as putting the ball in the back of the net,” DePompei said. “He’s a special player between the ears. He knows where to be and when to be there.”

DePompei led a team with only three starters back and 19 fresh faces to its second state title (2013) in program history. The Minutemen finished 20-1-2 in his ninth season.

“Everybody knows his story,” Revere midfielder AJ Catlett said. “The first 16 games we progress and build as a team. In the end, we play well. He doesn’t care about the results as long as we’re progressing. It’s all you ask for as a coach.”

Hudson coach Steve Knapp won the Sports Ethics and Integrity award.
