H.S. Softball/Baseball: Pittston Area's Adams throws fourth no-hitter of the season

Apr. 17—For the fourth time in as many games, Pittston Area's Gianna Adams threw a no-hitter.

Adams struck out 11 as the Patriots defeated Crestwood 12-0 Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference softball.

Adams, the Times Leader Player of the Year in 2023, now has 52 strikeouts in 21 innings.

Gabby Roman was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Marina Antal was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Julia Mehal was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Adams was 2-for-3 and Lili Hintze had a double.

Wilkes-Barre Area 6, Hazleton Area 4

Madalyn McGuinness doubled and had three RBI as the Wolfpack upset Hazleton Area, marking the first win over the Cougars in school history.

Kayce Martin, Hope Burke and Daniely Franco all had a double for WBA. Caitlyn Sekelsky had a triple. Jordan Prushinski pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.

Olivia Williams was 3-for-3 with a triple for Hazleton Area. Alyson Mummey had two RBI.

Tunkhannock 16, Dallas 0

Tunkhannock used a 12-run second inning to end the game after three innings.

Elaina Kulsicavage was 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBI for Tunkhannock. Emily Patton had two doubles and three RBI. Addisyn Waterman tripled and had two RBI. Makenzie Bevan had two RBI and Lucy Karp doubled.

Audrianna Atherholt doubled and Giovanni Smacchi singled for Dallas.

BASEBALL

Lake-Lehman 12, Hanover Area 2

Three Black Knights had three RBI each as Lake-Lehman pulled away late to defeat Hanover Area in six innings.

Sam Finarelli, Chris Sholtis and Von Voelker combined for the nine RBI. Finarelli was 2-for-3 with a home run. Sholtis doubled and singled. Voelker had a double and scored twice.

Starter Jake Naugle and relievers Spencer Smith and Jake Evans limited Hanover Area to four hits.

Nick Shiel doubled and had Hanover Area's only RBI.

Dallas 8, Wilkes-Barre Area 2

Dallas snapped a 2-2 tie with six runs in the fifth inning.

Kayden Coyne and Connor Healey each had a single and two RBI for Dallas, which finished with five hits. Zach Paczewski had two singles. Dom Zangardi scored twice and was the winning pitcher.

Koleton Davies had two singles and an RBI for Wilkes-Barre Area. Jake Howe had a double.

Holy Redeemer 12, MMI Prep 2

Holy Redeemer seized control with five runs in the fourth and then ended the game in the fifth with four more runs.

Drew Cisney had two singles and three RBI for Redeemer. Luke Kopec was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Kayden Stevenson doubled and had two RBI. Cody Quaglia had a double and an RBI.

Zach Yenchko had a double and knocked in both runs for MMI Prep in the third inning.
