Shane Bieber couldn't escape a nightmarish fifth inning, and the Guardians (19-22) fell to the Chicago White Sox (15-28), 8-3 Tuesday night.

Bieber held the White Sox scoreless through the first four innings and then had two outs with nobody on in the fifth. Then the wheels fell off.

Breakthrough: Guardians' Josh Naylor is as locked in as any hitter in baseball after 'riding the wave'

Luis Robert Jr. reached on a catcher's interference, in which Mike Zunino had his left hand hit by Robert's bat. Zunino exited the game. A couple of singles scored the first run of the inning before Gavin Sheets belted a three-run home run to make it 4-0 White Sox.

Yasmani Grandal followed with a single, and Jake Burger made it a six-run inning to end Bieber's night early.

For the Guardians, Steven Kwan went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in the loss.

Josh Naylor also left the game with a left leg injury.
