Grizzlies vs. Celtics live score updates: Jaren Jackson Jr. out as injury crisis continues

To say the Memphis Grizzlies will be shorthanded on Sunday night in Boston would be a pretty severe understatement.

The Grizzlies could be without as many as 13 players on Sunday night when they go on the road against the team with the best record in the NBA. That means the three players signed to 10-day contracts earlier this week — Matthew Hurt, Tosan Evbuomwan and Trey Jemison — will probably be needed to fill out the rotation.

Marcus Smart's injury means he won't play in his return to Boston after spending his entire career with the Celtics before being traded to the Grizzlies last offseason. Jaren Jackson Jr. — the only Grizzlies starter who's been relatively healthy throughout this season — is out with right hip soreness.

Memphis has been without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Smart for an extended period of time and has needed to lean on two-way players and players on 10-day contracts to fill out the roster. Santi Aldama, Derrick Rose, Vince Williams Jr. and John Konchar are all listed as questionable for Sunday's game, while Xavier Tillman Sr. is listed as doubtful.

The Celtics (37-12) are coming off a loss on Thursday to the Lakers. The Grizzlies (18-31) have lost four in a row.

Final:

The game was out of reach for a while, but Boston extended the lead throughout the fourth quarter. Memphis just never had a chance to compete with the NBA's best team with their makeshift rotation. GG Jackson led the Grizzlies with 18 points and was 8-of-24 from the field, while Jayson Tatum led Boston with 34 points in just 30 minutes.

End of third quarter: Celtics 99, Grizzlies 76

The Celtics have maintained control of the game and are set up to cruise to a blowout win.

Halftime: Celtics 70, Grizzlies 50

Memphis kept it close for a bit, but the Celtics have a massive talent advantage and stretched the lead out to 20 points at the break.

Tosan Evbuomwan makes his impact

Evbuomwan — another Grizzlies player on a 10-day contract — came in to the game early on because of Jemison's foul trouble and immediately made an impact. He already has 10 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds.

Marcus Smart gets tribute video

Smart won't play today, but it's his return to Boston for the first time after he was traded from the Celtics to the Grizzlies. He got a tribute video and a standing ovation at a break in the first quarter, with "We love Marcus" chants coming from the fans at TD Garden.

Trey Jemison picks up 2 fouls in first minute

Despite being on a 10-day contract, Jemison got the start alongside Jacob Gilyard, GG Jackson, Luke Kennard and David Roddy. But he picked up two fouls before a minute had even elapsed, so the eight man Grizzlies rotation will be tested early.
