Green Bay Packers vs. Las Vegas Raiders Week 5 game preview
The Green Bay Packers (2-2) will attempt to win a ninth-straight game over the Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) when Matt LaFleur’s team goes to Sin City for “Monday Night Football” in Week 5.
After starting Week 4 in the NFL with a 34-20 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, the Packers get a chance to close out Week 5 by bouncing back in primetime and handing the Raiders a fourth straight loss.
ESPN/ABC will broadcast the game, with kickoff coming at 7:15 p.m. CT and Joe Buck and Troy Aikman on the call.
The Packers haven’t lost to the Raiders since 1987. The last meeting came in 2019, during LaFleur’s first season as Packers coach, when Green Bay won 42-24 at Lambeau Field. The Packers have scored 30 or more points in five straight games against the Raiders, including three games with 40 or more points.
The Packers have never played at Allegiant Stadium and will be facing the Raiders for the first time since the franchise moved from Oakland to Las Vegas. The last time the Raiders won a game in this series? The franchise was located in Los Angeles.

What to know from first four weeks
The Packers blew out a bad and still winless Chicago Bears team in Week 1, blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead to the 2-2 Atlanta Falcons, overcame a 17-0 fourth-quarter deficit to beat the 2-2 New Orleans Saints and lost by two scores to the 3-1 Detroit Lions.
Now 2-2, the Packers sit in second place in the NFC North behind the Lions.
The Raiders got a fourth-quarter touchdown to beat the Denver Broncos in Week 1 but have since lost three straight games, including a home loss in primetime to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
At 1-3, the Raiders are tied for last in the AFC West.
Through four games, the Packers look like a league average team going through ups and downs. The Raiders, with the NFL’s sixth-worst point differential, might be in the running for a top five pick in next year’s draft.
Injury to monitor
The Packers will hope to return left guard Elgton Jenkins, who has missed two straight games with an MCL injury in his knee. He returned to practice with a brace on the knee but his status is unknown for Monday night. Royce Newman has struggled mightily while starting in place of Jenkins at left guard over the last two games, so getting Jenkins back would provide a big boost to a Packers offensive line without David Bakhtiari (IR). Right guard Jon Runyan is also dealing with an ankle injury, and tight end Luke Musgrave must get through concussion protocol.
The Raiders lost last week without starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who missed the contest with a concussion. Rookie Aidan O’Connell made the start but took seven sacks and turned the ball over three times in a road loss to the Chargers. Can Garoppolo make it back for Week 5? The Raiders also have injuries at cornerback (Nate Hobbs, David Long Jr.) worth monitoring.
Current betting line (GB -2.5)
The Packers opened the week as 1.5-point favorites at BetMGM but the line has since moved (as of Wednesday) to the Packers being a 2.5-point favorite (or -2.5). The over/under is now 44.5 points. The Packers have ended up as an underdog (final betting lines) in all four games this season, but barring a big change, they’ll go into Las Vegas as a slight road favorite against the Raiders on Monday night.
