Here is an overview of the high school boys golf teams in Greater Lansing. This listing reflects stats provided to the LSJ by coaches.

Coach: Fred Hingst (4th season)

Top returners: Luke Hanselman (sr.), Will Tucker (jr.), Justin Steinman (so.)

Outlook: The Panthers lost two seniors to graduation from their state finals squad from last spring and will lean on Hanselman, Tucker and Steinman. Hingst hopes a talented group of newcomers help DeWitt finish near the top of the CAAC Blue again.


Coach: Jeff Miller (6th season)

Top returners: Carter McKinney (jr.), Christian Helzer (so.)

Other contributors: Landon Pilcher (sr.), Ethan Schmit (jr.)

Outlook: McKinney is a third-year varsity player who is part of a deep lineup for the Comets. Grand Ledge expects to be competitive in the CAAC  Blue.


Last season: 4th

Coach: Brian Kosloski (6th season)

Top returners: Mason Blair (sr.), Rylan Grasse (sr.), Jack Parks (jr.), Brady Gamet (jr.), Dom Demello (so.)

Other contributors: Maddox Wright (sr.), Chase Prrott (sr.), Evan Latty (sr.), Travis Thompkins (sr.)

Outlook: Blair is a fourth-year varsity player and leads an experienced team for the Rams. Holt hopes to build on last year’s success and contend for a league title.

Other contributor: Ian Masih (jr.)

Outlook: Patil was one of the CAAC Blue’s top golfers last season and Okemos expects to get a boost from Masih returning to the lineup. Masih spent the first two years of his high school career playing golf in Florida. The Wolves have a goal to reach the state finals.

Top players: Luke Blattert, Haslett; Carter Gerard. Haslett; Chaase Makley, Mason; Luke Petee, Mason; Grant Rustad, St. Johns

Coach: Steve Blattert (7th season)

Top returners: Carter Gerard (sr.), Luke Blattert (jr.), Spencer Locke (jr.), Roen Blue (jr.), Jack Stein (jr.), Dave Hatch (jr.), Auden Roberts (sr.), Aiden Ruby (jr.)

Other contributors: RJ Zecchino (fr.), Jack VanAcker (so.)

Outlook: With a strong core of returners and a group of talented underclassmen, the Vikings expect to be successful again. Haslett hopes to contend for a CAAC Red title and qualify for the state finals.


Coach: Nick Campbell (1st season)

Top returners: Cole Sova (jr.), Levi Baker (jr.), John Miller (jr.), John Harmon (sr.), Nolan Peterson (so.)

Other contributors: Oliver Farmer (sr.), Tommy Cox (fr.)

Outlook: Sova was an honorable mention all-league golfer  for the Gladiators last spring. Campbell expects Fowlerville to be more competitive in matches this season.


Last season: 2nd

Coach: Kirk Petee (20th season)

Top returners: Chaase Makley (jr.), Luke Petee (sr.), Joe Strach (sr.), Talan Gardner (jr.), Zach Wells (so.), Josh Dys (jr.)

Other contributors: Jayden Roach (jr.), Brock Straub (so.)

Outlook: Makley and Luke Petee are returning first team all-league performers for the Bulldogs, who are coming off a team state finals appearance. Mason aims to build on that trip with a returning starting lineup that has experience.


Last season: 4th

Coach: Rick Schultz (8th season)

Top returners: Grant Rustad (sr.), Chris Stewart (sr.)

Outlook: Rustad was fourth in the CAAC Red and was a first team all-league selection and combined with Stewart will lead the Redwings. Schultz expects to get contributions from young players who will help St. Johns contend in the CAAC Red.

Top players: Bradon Ellis, Eaton Rapids; Cole Hutchinson, Lansing Catholic; Jack Monaghan, Eaton Rapids; Hayden Riley, Lansing Catholic; Noah Robinson, Charlotte

Coach: Kevin Robinson (1st season)

Top returners: Noah Robinson (so.), Reid Blasius (jr.), Van Reed (jr.)

Other contributors: Hayden Sanders (so.), Peyton Edick (so.)

Outlook: Noah Robinson and Blasius were all-league golfers last season and among three returners for the Orioles. With some newcomers joining the mix, Charlotte hopes to be in contention for a league title.


Last season: 3rd

Coach: Michael Edick (6th season)

Top returners: Bradon Ellis (sr.), Jack Monaghan (sr.), Braylon Parker (sr.), Nick White (sr.), Trentyn Covello (sr.)

Other contributors: Logan Miller (fr.), Austin Epps (jr.)

Outlook: Ellis and Monaghan were first-team all-league golfers last season and lead a Greyhound squad that expects to challenge for a CAAC White title.


Coach: Bobby Martinez (2nd season)

Top returners: Adam Kramer (so.), Hobbs Pinnow (sr.), Spencer Tooker (jr.)

Other contributors: Cameron Henry (jr.), Power Shippey (sr.)

Outlook: Martinez hopes the Bulldogs can compete with the top teams in the White and said staying consistent this spring will be key.


Last season: 1st

Coach: Matt Golzynski (4th season)

Top returners: Hayden Riley (jr.), Cole Hutchinson (sr.), Jack McGinnity (sr.), Stephen Fair (sr.)

Other contributors: Connor Thompson (so.), Sean Durr (sr.), Adam Killingsworth (fr.), Carter Tribell (fr.)

Outlook: Riley is a varsity veteran who was the regional medalist last season and Hutchinson finished in the top 20 at the Division 3 state finals to lead a core of returners for the Cougars. Lansing Catholic expects to be one of the top teams in Division 3 and to contend for another CAAC White title.


Last season: 4th

Coach: Jon Snellenberger (11th season)

Top returners: Caleb Bower (sr.), Layne Painter (jr.)

Other contributors: Carter Higbee (jr.), Trent Durrant (jr.)

Outlook: Bower has earned all-league honors the past two seasons for the Raiders. Portland is working toward having a lineup that is more competitive with some experienced players competing. Bower is in his third season on varsity, while Portland has three juniors in their third seasons.

Top returners: Krish Patel (jr.), Sam Dunckel (so.), Anthony Wasson (sr.), Thomas Vang (jr.), Caeden Cazabon (sr.), Nate Reed (sr.), Sam Wonch (sr.)

Outlook: Patel earned first team All-CMAC honors last season, while Dunckel, Wasson, Vang and Cazabon were second team all-league performers. With the talent returning, the Bees hopes to improve on their third-place finish in the CMAC

Coach: Greg Beavers (11th season)

Top returners: Aiden Madelins (sr.), Seth Sivek (sr.), Colin Hart (jr.), Austin Wright (sr.), Dylan Hoayl (jr.), Connor Barrett (jr.), Brock Johnston (sr.)

Other contributors: Kade McLean (fr.),  Jayden Stahl (jr.), Josiah Hawes (so.)

Outlook: The Wolfpack hope to win another league title and be among the top five placers at their regional.


Last season: 1st GLAC

Coach: Jason Solgat (1st season)

Top returners: Sam Mazurek (sr.), Noah Thorn (sr.), Chris Webb (sr), Dane Webb (jr.), Kenny Dutkiewicz (jr.), James MacKenzie (jr.), Cole Thurn (so.)

Other contributor: Carter Thorn (fr.)

Outlook: The Vikings have six golfers back who played varsity throughout last season. Lakewood is focused on putting in work around the green and sharpening its chipping and putting as it aims to have success.


Coach: Jason Block (9th season)

Top returners: Will Stone (sr.), James Stone (jr.), Jamie LeBrun (jr.), Jack Crawford (so.), Jack Bajema (so.)

Other contributors: Maddox Mosely (Fr.), Luke Meyer (fr.)

Outlook: Will and James Stone and LeBrun are part of a core of upperclassmen returning, while Mosley and Meyer are newcomers expected to contribute immediately for the Pilgrims.


Last season: 4th

Coach: Ryan Koenigsknecht (3rd season)

Top returners: Drew Trierweiler (sr.), Henrik Waltersdorf (jr.), Jacob Hengesbach (jr.), Brendan Flynn (sr.), John Schafer (sr.)

Other contributors: Isaac Thelen (jr.), Dominic Weber (jr.), Brandt White (jr.), Sam Simon (so.)

Outlook: Trierweiler averaged 50.84 strokes on nine-hole events and is among the top returners for the Pirates. Waltersford (51.74 9-hole average) and Hengesbach (51.86) have the other top averages of P-W’s returners.



Last season: 3rd MMAC

Coach: Josh Latz (4th season)

Top returners: Dominic Kline (sr.), Mikey Bancroft (so.), Jayce Herblet (jr.)

Other contributors: Tucker Loynes (jr.), Tayt Kline (so.), Mason Rittenberg (sr.), Jaksen Jones (sr.)

Outlook: Kline was first team all-league golfer last spring and is a team captain for the Marauders, who expect to be among the top teams in the MMAC.
