Which Cincinnati high school baseball pitchers are off to hot starts?

Mother Nature pitched a shutout for some local high school baseball teams last week, as many programs have had trouble getting on the field to play their games.

Still, several high school players have pitched shutouts of their own and been hard to beat on the mound. Here are some Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky hurlers who are off to hot starts. These stats are through Friday, April 5.

Ohio Division I

Cournell Bennett-McCoy, Hamilton – The senior is 1-0 with a scoreless ERA and 15 strikeouts in 10 innings.

Jacob Boland, Fairfield – The senior is 0-2 but has a 1.40 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 10 innings.

Lucas Davids, Fairfield – He has 18 strikeouts and a 0.72 ERA in 9.2 innings with a 1-1 record.

Mason Glen, Anderson – The junior is 1-0 with a 1.83 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings

David Hagen, Moeller – The senior is 1-0 with a 0.88 ERA and 14 strikeouts in eight innings.

Jacob Hanley, Mason – One of the state’s top senior pitchers is 2-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 7.2 innings.

Charlie McGuinness, Little Miami – The senior is 2-0 with no earned runs allowed in 11 innings.

Trenton Murphy, Oak Hills – He is 2-0 with no runs allowed and 21 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Drew Oerther, Loveland – The sophomore is 2-0 with a scoreless ERA and 17 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Zion Theophilus, Moeller – The junior is 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts.

J.J. Vogel, Edgewood – He is 3-0 with a 0.64 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 11 innings.

Ohio Division II, III and IV

Calvin Acosta, Clark Montessori – The junior is 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Alex Anderson, Finneytown – He has 13 strikeouts and a 4.38 ERA in eight innings.

Connor Clayton, New Richmond – He is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and has allowed two unearned runs in 17 innings with 13 hits allowed, three walks and 11 strikeouts.

Nate Colyer, McNicholas – The junior is 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 12 innings.

Evan Lafferty, Miami Valley Christian Academy – The junior is 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA in 11 innings after pitching a no-hitter last week. He has 26 strikeouts out of 33 possible outs.

Nick Rinala, Indian Hill – The senior is 2-0 with no earned runs allowed and 17 strikeouts in 12 innings. He has two complete-game shutouts.

Brayden Schmittou, Batavia – The sophomore has a 2-0 record and scoreless ERA in 11 innings. He has allowed one hit.

Charlie Steed, Wyoming – The junior won his only start with a shutout and seven strikeouts.

Tony Stier, St. Bernard-Elmwood Place – The sophomore has a 2-0 record and 0.88 ERA in eight innings, striking out 13.

Andrew Zimmerman, Cincinnati Country Day – The senior has an 0-2 record but has not allowed an earned run in 12 innings.

Northern Kentucky

Cameron Bottom, Campbell County – He has a 2-0 record and 2.80 ERA with 18 strikeouts in 10 innings.

Logan Cones, Simon Kenton – He is 3-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14 innings. The three wins is one off the state lead.

Thomas Gemeinhardt, Dixie Heights – He has a 3-0 record, one win off the state lead, with a 1.75 ERA. In 16 innings, he has allowed only seven hits and struck out 25.

Mason Howard, Walton-Verona – He has a 1-1 record and 0.44 ERA in three starts, with 14 strikeouts and only six hits allowed in 16 innings.

Porter Huston, Scott – He is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Dylan McIntyre, Ryle – In two starts, he has a 2.33 ERA and 1-0 record with 15 strikeouts in nine innings.

Noah Ohradzansky, Newport Central Catholic – He is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 17 innings with 19 strikeouts.

Marcus Suwinski, Covington Catholic – He is 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA and six hits allowed in 12 innings.

Aaron Wichmann, Conner – He has a 2-1 record and 1.24 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 17 innings.

Bradley Zekl, Covington Catholic – He is 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA and 22 strikeouts plus only eight hits allowed in 16 innings. His three wins are one off the state lead.
