Grayson Allen says Emma Stone didn't wave at him as she left Suns' win at Lakers, despite video

Grayson Allen can’t help but laugh about the viral video with award-winning actress Emma Stone from last week’s win against the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

A huge Suns fan who grew up in Scottsdale, Stone appeared to wave to Allen as she left the arena with Phoenix leading, 124-102, with 3:19 left in the game. The Suns won the game, 127-109.

The short clip has been all over social media with headlines and captions saying Stone waved at Allen.

Allen sees that a little bit differently.

“It’s funny how a frame of something, it looks so out of context,” Allen said after Tuesday’s morning shootaround as the Suns play Sacramento at Footprint Center. “When I watched it, I don’t think she even said bye to me or looked at me, but in the video, it looks like we’re looking directly at each other.

As Stone was waving, Allen was putting on his warmup jacket with his arm extended in her direction. That freeze frame makes it look like she's waving back at him.

"It’s just kind of funny how easily something like that can be taken out of context,” Allen added.

Stone shook hands with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal as they were sitting on the bench with Allen and Kevin Durant before her final wave to the bench.

“I think she just waved at the whole team,” Durant said Tuesday. “She was talking to the whole team, to be honest. It didn’t seem like she singled out Grayson, but she supports our whole team.”

Stone has attended Suns games before.

She was at Footprint Center for Phoenix’s 116-113 victory on March 16, 2023, over Orlando wearing a black Suns jersey. Stone took pictures with Suns players after the game.

Nearly a calendar year later, Stone wore a black Suns hat to watch the Suns beat the Lakers.

“It’s always good when superstars and people come in there and watch us and support us,” Durant continued. “We want to put a good product on the floor.”

The victory had fans on social media calling this “the Emma Stone game," which can be taken that she's a good luck charm for the Suns.

“If that’s the case, she needs to be at every game,” Allen said.
