Graham, Princeton, James Monroe, Narrows, Tazewell, Giles begin playoffs this week

Nov. 7—Out of six local teams that earned bids to their respective high school playoff brackets this week, five will be playing again home in opening-round games that will be played locally on Friday and Saturday.

VHSL Region 2D action begins on Friday at Mitchell Stadium as No. 2 Graham (9-1) opens with a 7 p.m. first round game with No. 7 Lee High (4-6).

In other VHSL Friday action, Region 1C No. 2 Narrows (8-2) will face No. 7 Fort Chiswell i(4-n a 7 p.m. game at Harry Ragsdale Stadium in Narrows, Va. Neighboring No. 8 Giles (3-7) will travel to No 1. Grayson County (9-1) for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Independence, Va.

Two highly-touted WVSSAC local teams and one VHSL-affiliate will hold first round games on Saturday.

WVSSAC Class 3 No. 5 Princeton (9-1) will host Oak Hill (8-2) in a 1:30 p.m. game to be played at Hunnicutt Stadium in Princeton.

WVSSAC Class A No. 1 James Monroe (8-1) will host No. 16 Sherman (6-4) Saturday night in a 7:30 p.m. game at H.E. Comer Sports Complex at Lindside.

In VHSL Region 2D action on Saturday, No. 4 Tazewell (7-3) will host No. 5 Ridgeview (7-3) in a rematch of last year's opening round. Kickoff at Bulldogs Stadium in Tazewell, Va. is 1 p.m.
