Goshen and Mishawaka prevail in NLC extras

It was a wild Wednesday night for baseball in the Northern Lakes Conference, as two games went extra innings.

Goshen edged Concord, 4-3, in 10 innings and Mishawaka clipped NorthWood, 8-7, in eight innings.

Damian Castillo's sacrifice fly in the 10th gave the RedHawks a win over the Minutemen.

Kyan Miller's sacrifice fly for Goshen in the seventh tied the game at 3.

Caelan Miller finished with five hits for the RedHawks, while the Minutemen got two hits from Noah Norwood.

Mishawaka scored two runs in the bottom eighth in a dramatic win over NorthWood.

Beau Patterson collected four hits for the Panthers and Mason Warren added two hits and two RBIs.

Max Shreiner had two hits and three RBIs to lead Elkhart past Glenn, 6-2, in Northern Indiana Conference play.

In softball, the Lions got two hits and two RBIs from Fionna Topolski in a 3-2 NIC victory over Glenn.

In NLC play, Concord rallied and scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth in a 9-7 win over Goshen.

Emily Ramirez and Yoder each finished with three hits for the RedHawks.

Rielyn Goodwin had three hits and Willow Staley added two hits and two RBIs in Northridge's 9-2 win over Warsaw.

Leading 9-7, Jimtown gave up eight runs in the top of the sixth and fell to Bremen, 15-11, in NIC play.

Jimtown's Kendal McPhee had three hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs. Layla Winrott also collected three hits and Skyler Pello homered and drove in two runs for the Jimmies.

In second round action at the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament, Kinslyn Pressler totaled two hits and three RBIs to lead Fairfield past West Noble, 9-4.

In boys golf, Elkhart's Steven Webb shot a 38 and shared medalist honors with Marian's Jackson Horvath in a match at Erskine Golf Course.

The Knights won the match with a 157, which was 10 strokes better than the runner-up Lions.

In NLC boys track between Concord, Northridge and Warsaw, the Tigers edged the Minutemen, 67-65, Concord clipped the Raiders, 78-54, and Warsaw beat Northridge, 85-47.

Joseph Moon was a double winner for the Minutemen, with those events being the 100 and 400 meters.
