Gophers gain commitment from Western Michigan receiver Corey Crooms Jr.
The Gophers football program received a commitment from Western Michigan transfer wide receiver Corey Crooms Jr. on Saturday night.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound player from County Club Hills, Ill., was named all-Mid-American Conference second team and has one season of eligibility remaining. Crooms made The Athletic’s list of top receivers available in the NCAA transfer portal last week.
Crooms had 57 receptions for 814 yards and five touchdowns last fall and 44 receptions for 768 yards and six touchdowns in 2021.
Crooms lined up in the slot on 77 percent of his 815 snaps last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He had a grade of 74.8, including an exception 94.5 on medium and deep routes.
