Golf: Hillsdale Will Carleton Academy wins the CAC early season championship
HILLSDALE — It was a blistery Thursday and Friday for golf events, but two local teams got in their first outings of the season.

The Hillsdale Will Carleton Academy Cougars won the CAC conference early season championship against Battle Creek Academy and Factoryville Christian Academy.

Junior Tyler Slade took first overall, earning a 46 score on a challenging course. Teammates and fellow junior Will Thielen and Thomas Maier took second and third place. WCA freshman David Maier came in fourth with BCA senior Nathan Thompson rounding out the top five.
The Jonesville Comets also got their season off to a start. The team competed at the Grass Lake jamboree to start league play. The team took seventh with a score of 407. The event was won by Leslie with a score of 355.
Senior Carter Baker earned a fourth-place tie with Columbia Central senior Hayden Carter. Baker shot an 87 on a 72 par over 18 holes. He had a birdie on the front and back nine. Zachary Mains tied for 21st. Grant Broesamle took 37th. Cole Trumper took 45th.

Jonesville will head to the Michigan Center Jamboree on Tuesday, April 23 at the Lakeland Hillsdale Golf Course, hosted by Michigan Center. WCA transitions to SCAA jamboree play, starting Monday with a trip to Ella Sharp Park Golf Course.
