GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: Highlanders win 3rd straight sectional title
Oct. 16—SEYMOUR — Floyd Central made it three in a row Saturday night.
The Highlanders swept the host Owls 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 in the Class 4A Seymour Sectional final at Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium.
It's the third straight sectional title for Floyd and the 22nd in program history.
The Highlanders (23-10) advance to meet No. 8 Center Grove (26-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the second semifinal of the Bloomington North Regional. Fifth-ranked Castle (31-3) will face Franklin (23-8) at 11 a.m. in the first semi. The regional final is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday night.
In the final against Seymour, Jenna Heidbreder led the way with a double-double (16 kills, 18 digs) while Carly Fonda dished out 37 assists.
Floyd Central advanced to the final with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-11 sweep of Bedford North Lawrence in a semifinal match earlier Saturday.
