Girls basketball roundup: 3A No. 1 Lincoln hammers 4A No. 4 Normal Community

Here are the girls basketball and boys swimming results from around Springfield from Monday and Tuesday:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LINCOLN 67, NORMAL COMMUNITY 29: At Normal, Kloe Froebe generated 29 points and the 3A top-ranked Railsplitters dispatched 4A No. 4 Normal Community to remain unbeaten at 20-0.

Becca Heitzig and Piper Whiteman each had 12 points. Lincoln jumped to a 44-14 halftime lead. The Ironmen fell to 18-2 overall.

SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN 73, DECATUR MACARTHUR 44: At Jim Belz Gym, Maggie Fleischli shot 8 of 10 from the free throw line and finished with 20 points in the Central State Eight Conference win.

Fleischli had 14 points in the first half and the Cyclones led 36-16 at halftime. Callie Huston scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half. Sophie Murphy chipped in eight points.

Lexi Meyer led the Generals with 10 points.

SPRINGFIELD HIGH 72, CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL 39: At Willard Duey Gym, Keziah Toran manufactured 17 points while Ariana Williams had 15 points in the nonconference win.

Emma Scheffler hit three 3s and ended with 11 points. SHS led 34-22 at halftime.

Alex Parastaran had 14 points for the Maroons.

BLOOMINGTON 61, LANPHIER 42: At Lober-Nika Gymnasium, Aubrey Beavers scored a game-high 20 points for the Lions but the Purple Raiders took control in the second quarter and never looked back in the nonconference game.

Beavers had two 3-pointers for the Lions (4-11) while Lovely Jackson added nine points to the cause.

Sosi Dadekian led Bloomington (7-13) with 15 points while Lauren Shuey netted 13.

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Try helps Glenwood seal win

Senior Xavier Try won a pair of events and swam on a winning relay to help Chatham Glenwood defeat Jacksonville and Southeast in a triangular boys swimming and diving meet at Eisenhower Pool on Tuesday.

Try won the 50-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle. He started the winning 400 freestyle relay as Glenwood finished first and second in the event to overtake Jacksonville in the team standings.

Glenwood won the tri-meet with 127 points. Jacksonville totaled 115 and Southeast ended with 10. James Wallman won the 200 freestyle for the Titans.

Jacksonville was victorious in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Individually, junior Jack Borgman won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly for the Crimsons.

Senior Ian Meak took the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke and junior Colin Wilson touched first in the 100 breaststroke. Wilson anchored Jacksonville’s 200 free relay.

Monday's results

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CARLINVILLE 46, RIVERTON 40: At Riverton, Izabella Tiburzi and Kaitlyn Reels combined for 32 points as the Cavaliers took to the road and came home with a nonconference win.

Tiburzi had 10 of her game-high 19 points in the fourth quarter to keep Carlinville’s six-point lead after three quarters. Reels knocked down two 3-pointers and finished with 13.

Jordyn Loveless added eight and Hannah Gibson scored six for the Cavaliers, who improved to 16-4.

Jordyn Durham led the 8-10 Hawks with 16 points while Brandy Petitt added 11 points.

STANFORD OLYMPIA 57, AUBURN 54 (OT): At Stanford, missed free throws doomed Auburn in a Sangamo Conference loss on the road Monday.

The Trojans (10-11 overall, 0-2 Sangamo) missed 26 of 39 free throws and were outscored 5-2 in the overtime period.

Addison Wheatley led Auburn with 16 points and Graysen Allen scored 11. Allen had Auburn’s only points in the extra period.

Callie Gill and Chloe Crissey added eight points apiece for the Trojans.

Kat Springer led Olympia with 17 points while Mia Boudeman added 11 and knocked down three 3-pointers, including one in overtime.

The Spartans improved to 12-7 (1-1).

JERSEYVILLE 65, GILLESPIE 58: At Jerseyville, Gillespie’s Lauren Bertagnolli knocked down six 3-pointers and scored 18 points in the Miners’ nonconference loss on Monday.

Mia Brawner added 16 points for the Miners (15-6) and went 5-for-6 at the free-throw line.

Tessa Crawford led the Panthers (12-8) with a game-high 28 points. She made four 3s for Jersey. Meredith Gray netted 17 in the win.

SOUTH COUNTY 25, PLEASANT HILL 24: At the Lady Spartan Classic in White Hall, Jacee Alexander scored six points to lead South County to a nail-biting win.

Pleasant Hill outscored the team out of Waverly 14-10 in the fourth quarter to close a five-point deficit.

Six different players for South County scored.

PETERSBURG PORTA/A-C CENTRAL 49, MAROA-FORSYTH 20: Jayce Privia and Karlie Hoke combined for 30 points as the Bluejays opened up a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and were never challenged at home.

Privia scored 17 points and knocked down a pair of 3s while Hoke added 13 points to the cause.

Aubrey Vogel led 2A No. 8 PORTA with six assists and teammate Carson Arthalony grabbed a team-best five rebounds.

NOKOMIS 43, KINCAID SOUTH FORK 38: At Nokomis, freshman Alivia Sabol scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Nokomis to another MSM Conference win.

Nokomis improved to 13-8 overall and 5-0 in the MSM.

Grace Dewerff added eight points for Nokomis. Camryn Engelman also grabbed seven boards.

Jara Shoulders scored a game-high 16 points for the Ponies, who dropped to 14-8.
