Girls basketball: Lady Pirates get road win at Seymour

Nov. 27—SEYMOUR — The Lady Pirates posted their second straight win over a Class 4A school with a 57-40 win at Seymour Saturday.

The Lady Pirates improve to 5-2 on the season. The Lady Owls drop to 4-2.

Greensburg's defense held Seymour to 35 percent shooting in the game.

The Lady Pirates took control in the first half, jumping out to a 31-18 lead at the half. Greensburg outscored Seymour 26-22 in the second half to cruise to the win.

The Lady Pirates were led in scoring by Mylie Wilkison with 20 points. Wilkison was 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Leah West had another double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Aly Powers finished with 12 points for the Lady Pirates. Mary Harmon had six points and Claire Larrison added three in the Greensburg win.

Seymour's Kendall Sterling scored 11 points to lead the Lady Owls with 11 points.

Greensburg travels to South Decatur Thursday.

North Decatur

GREENSBURG — The Lady Chargers jumped out to a 10-point lead after one quarter and 17-point lead at the half en route to a 58-26 victory over visiting Knightstown.

The Lady Chargers improve to 4-2 on the season. Knightstown is 4-3.

The Lady Chargers led 15-5 after the first eight minutes. Madi Allen scored seven points in the opening frame. Five different players scored for North in the second quarter to give the Lady Chargers a 28-11 lead at the break.

North doubled up Knightstown 30-15 in the second half to secure the win.

Allen led the Lady Chargers with 19 points. Ella Kunz was also in double figures with 11 points. Sydney Rohls made it three Lady Chargers in double digits with 10 points.

Jo Whitaker scored six points. Kelsey Haley hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter for six points. Clare Kinker scored four points and Kacey Barker scored two points.

Kunz finished with a team-high 11 rebounds. Allen had five rebounds. Carmen Thackery and Kinker both had three rebounds. Thackery finished with a team-high four assists.

Batesville

BATESVILLE — After a disappointing loss Friday, the Lady Bulldogs bounced back to knock off EIAC foe Connersville 45-37 Saturday.

The Lady Bulldogs improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the EIAC. Connersville is 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the EIAC.

Batesville used an 18-point second quarter to take control of the game, leading by 10 points at the half. The Lady Bulldogs were held to just three points in the third quarter, but still held a 30-23 advantage heading to the fourth quarter.

Batesville was led in scoring by Alyson Peters with 13 points. Kaylin Kathmann scored eight points. Sydney Campbell scored seven points. Marlee Obermeyer had six points. Sophie Gesell and Lydia Haskamp both had five points. Claire Saner hit a free throw for one point.

The junior varsity Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 6-1 with a home win against Connersville Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs were balanced in scoring with Sydney Campbell scoring eight points followed by Grace Walter with seven and Ellie Westerfeld, Maddie Haskamp and Lexiyne Harris each with six.

Friday, the Lady Bulldogs fell 52-42 at Jac-Cen-Del. After leading 13-8 after one quarter, Batesville trailed 29-21 at the half.

For Batesville, Campbell scored nine points followed by Obermeyer eight, Gessell seven, Lydia Haskamp seven, Kathmann seven and Maddie Haskamp four.
