Gibson, Kutscher score as Rochester boys soccer takes fourth in state
HOFFMAN ESTATES — Despite Major Gibson and Landon Kutscher goals, Rochester couldn't keep up with Burbank St. Laurence in a 4-2 loss to finish fourth in the Class 2A boys soccer state tournament Saturday morning at Hoffman Estates High School.
St. Laurence took a 3-0 lead at halftime with goals from Tristan Figueroa in the eighth minute, Eduardo Perez in the 11th minute and Edgar Perez in the 27th minute.

The Rockets (19-7) cut the Vikings' lead to 3-1 when Gibson finished off an assist from Jack Reid in the 53rd minute, but St. Laurence (15-8-2) regained its three-goal lead 14 minutes later on a goal from Diego Lugo. Major Gibson finished the season with seven goals. It was Reid's second assist.
It was the first time this season Rochester allowed four goals in a game.
Junior Landon Kutscher, who led the Rockets in scoring, buried a goal in the 72nd minute for the final score. It was his 19th goal.
Rochester goalies Reid Loy and Joel Brock combined to make six saves.
Rochester lost a heartbreaker in Friday's semifinal, 1-0 to Crystal Lake South.
The Rockets have two fourth-place finishes to go with three thirds since 2006.
