Giants vs. Dolphins: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 5

The New York Giants will go on the road to battle the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 in hopes of pulling off a significant upset to improve to 2-3 on the season.

The matchup will be a handful for the Giants, particularly on the defensive side of the ball as they try to slow down the top-ranked scoring offense in the league.

With the Giants clearly outmatched in this game, it could be a blowout in a hurry but hopefully, Brian Daboll’s crew are up to the task.

Here are three reasons for optimism heading into Sunday.

Daniel Jones following a loss and a break from prime time

The Giants have had three of their first four games on prime time, and it hasn’t been kind to them. Luckily, as they turn the page to Week 5, they will get to have a day game against Miami.

Daniel Jones’ stats off a loss certainly took a hit with Monday Night’s loss but is still impressive overall, going 8-2-1 in his last 11 games coming off a loss.

A healthy pass rush

The Giants got Azeez Ojulari back last week and his presence was certainly felt. He and Kayvon Thibodeaux generated pressure against the Seahawks and having both back on the field with a little confidence may help the Giants’ pass rush get going.

It’s a long shot but any chance at beating Miami will require the Giants to make Tua Tagovailoa uncomfortable.

Offense should be able to score some points

We said this last week and the Giants ended up surrendering 11 sacks. Mike Kafka must take advantage of another favorable matchup.

Even if it is a long shot for the Giants to win the game, Kafka should use Sunday as an opportunity to figure out how to get the offense going,

Wan’Dale Robinson has been a rare bright spot for Big Blue thus far. While the Giants should continue to look his way, look for an increased role from Darren Waller in this game.

Miami is ranked 29th in the league allowing 29.8 points per game. The Giants must find a way to exploit that.
