The New York Giants have suspended cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie missed Wednesday’s practice. He was in and out of the Week 5 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers but wasn’t listed on the pre-practice injury report.

Head coach Ben McAdoo announced the suspension later in the day. He wouldn’t elaborate on how the suspension will be or what Rodgers-Cromartie was suspended for.

“DRC came in yesterday. We had a conversation that was personal upstairs and he came in today. Decided to leave. We will suspend him,” McAdoo said.

McAdoo also wouldn’t confirm if the suspension stemmed from something that happened during Sunday’s game. Reports surfaced that the suspension was due to a disagreement over Rodgers-Cromartie’s availability for Sunday night’s game against the Denver Broncos.

McAdoo planned to bench him against Denver. Rodgers-Cromartie said he got into an argument with McAdoo on the sideline during the Chargers loss. Needless to say, he wasn’t very happy about being benched.

“To sit me a game had me hot,” Rodgers-Cromartie said. “I left (practice). I was suspended way before I left. I left because what (McAdoo) said was BS.”

ESPN also reported that Rodgers-Cromartie walked out of the team’s “recovery day” session last Friday.

Rodgers-Cromartie’s suspension comes after cornerback Eli Apple complained to the media about his playing time and the “culture” within the locker room. It was also reported that cornerback Janoris Jenkins left the field before the end of the Chargers loss.

McAdoo said there are no plans to trade or release Rodgers-Cromartie and he will be welcomed back after he serves his suspension.
