Should Giants sign WR DeAndre Hopkins?

On Friday, the Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins after spending most of the offseason attempting to trade him.

The New York Giants were connected to the lengthy receiver but it was never realistic with the cap hit that a Hopkins trade would’ve commanded. Now, as a free agent, the Giants could, potentially, kick the tires on Hopkins.

Despite upgrading the weapons around quarterback Daniel Jones, Hopkins seems like the missing piece — even on the back nine of his career. Certainly, the addition of tight end Darren Waller gives Jones a dynamic target but adding Hopkins to the mix would really move the needle.

Hopkins recently posted on his Instagram, showing him working out with Saquon Barkley and former Giant Odell Beckham Jr.

Hopkins would be perfect for Big Blue on the field. However, financially, Joe Schoen and the Giants will likely be priced out. If the Giants restructured the contract of Leonard Williams, there may be enough room to add Hopkins but as of right now, it’s hard to imagine them making the financials work.

If the Giants do find themselves interested in Hopkins, they will have to act fast. There are several teams around the league also looking to add a dynamic WR1 to their roster.
