Giants place Adrian Colbert on injured reserve

The New York Giants placed veteran safety Adrian Colbert on injured reserve late on Tuesday night, thinning out and already thin secondary.

Colbert had missed the previous three games with a shoulder injury and five games in total this season due to various injuries. He will miss at least three games before the team can reactive him.

In three games (two starts) this season, Colbert has recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) and one stuff.

Along with Colbert, the Giants also currently have cornerback Ryan Lewis and rookie safety Xavier McKinney on injured reserve.

Cornerback Sam Beal also opted out prior to the start of the season due to COVID-19 concerns.

With Colbert out, the Giants will likely rely more heavily on defensive back Julian Love and veteran safety Nate Ebner.

However, with an open spot on their 53-man roster, the Giants may also opt to sign a safety or promote one from their practice squad for additional depth.
