Giants OTAs: Notes, videos and highlights from Day 5

The New York Giants were back in East Rutherford on Wednesday for their fifth practice of organized team activities (OTAs) and their second open to members of the media.

Head coach Brian Daboll opened things up with his traditional press conference and touched on a number of topics before players took the field.

The Giants remain in walkthrough mode — no pads and no contact. They have five practices remaining after today.

Below is a recap of the day, including news, notes, highlights, and a few videos.

Info from Daboll presser

  • Daboll says he meets with each player regularly with an eye on constant improvement. Specifically, he wants to see a jump from last year’s rookies.

  • Daniel Jones is such a hard worker that Daboll occasionally has to remind him to dial it back. Calls DJ “a true pro.”

  • Daboll slapped tight end Darren Waller with the “true pro” label as well, calling him a great teammate.

  • The Giants add a little more each day for their 2023 class of rookies with eyes on having them fully ready to go come training camp.

  • On free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Daboll said he and general manager Joe Schoen will look into everything that can potentially make the team better.

  • Daboll wouldn’t rule out Adoree’ Jackson returning punts again in 2023, saying “we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”
