Giants will be among NFL teams with the most 2023 cap space

The New York Giants will have the fourth-most available salary cap space this coming free agency period, which begins March 15. And they could even climb to No. 3 before then.

When was the last time you heard that? The Giants will have approximately $44.4 million in available cap space to use on free agents and to extend the contracts of other players who are in their plans.

This news comes on the heels of the NFL announcing that the salary cap for 2023 has been set at a record $224.8 million per team. That’s up over $16.5 million from last season.

The Chicago Bears have a whopping $98.6 million in available cap space followed by Atlanta ($56.4 million), Cincinnati ($44.5M), and the Giants.

This is startling news for Giant fans who are traditionally used to the team having very little available cap space. General manager Joe Schoen, in his second season, has the Giants not only competing but in excellent financial health and with a load of picks (as many as 11) in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Giants are in good shape but there are still a lot of large contracts to deal with in-house.
