Georgia softball to host NCAA regional as overall No. 11 seed in NCAA Tournament

Georgia softball will host another NCAA Regional this year as the No. 11 overall national seed.

The Bulldogs will host a regional for the second year in a row, the first time this has happened since they hosted in 2014-2016. They will open against UNCW on Friday, with Liberty and Charlotte battling at Jack Turner as well.

The Athens Regional is paired with the Los Angeles Regional for the super-regional round. That regional is led by national No. 6 seed UCLA, along with Grand Canyon, San Diego State and Virginia Tech.

It is the 23rd straight NCAA Tournament made by Georgia, not including the canceled 2020 season. Georgia had advanced to last year's super-regional rounds. The Bulldogs have advanced to the Women's College World Series five times, last in 2021, never bringing home the title.

The Bulldogs (39-17) lost to 2-seeded Florida in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals.
