Georgia football 247 recruiting rankings: KJ Bolden flip guarantees Bulldogs top class of 2024

What has seemed like a foregone conclusion for much of the 2024 recruiting period became an unsurprising reality on Wednesday: Kirby Smart and Georgia have secured the top recruiting ranking in the country, per 247Sports.

The Bulldogs clinched the recruiting title in 2024 with a surprising flip of KJ Bolden of Buford (Georgia) High School. The five-star safety is the No. 1 player at his position in the country, the No. 14 player in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia, per 247Sports' Composite rankings; he flipped to Georgia after having previously committed to Florida State.

Bolden would be the 28th signee in Georgia's 2024 class, and the Bulldogs' fourth five-star recruit behind cornerback Ellis Robinson IV (No. 3 overall), linebacker Justin Williams (No. 9) and defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye (No. 32). He would also be the 10th top-100 recruit to sign with Georgia, per 247Sports Composite rankings.

Georgia's class is guaranteed to finish No. 1, with 247Sports reporting this is the earliest in a recruiting cycle that it has declared a team the recruiting national champion. The team ranks first not only on 247Sports' own recruiting services, but also its Composite rankings, a consensus collection of industry services such as Rivals, ESPN, On3 and more.

Per 247Sports, this is the third time the Bulldogs have earned the top recruiting class in the country, following titles in 2018 and 2020. This class would rank as the 14th-best of the 247Sports era, which began in 2010. Since Smart took over for the Bulldogs in 2017, they have never finished worse than fourth in the final recruiting standings.
