Gastonia, Shelby top performers: Cramer's Oshauna Holland twice goes for 30 points

Here is a daily list of the top performers from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties during the fourth week of winter sports action.

Our weekly top performers list and athlete of the week nominees are compiled courtesy of information provided to The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps or mentioning @JoeLHughesII in game results and highlights posted to Twitter.

Friday, Dec. 8

Boys basketball

Three players scored in double figures for Ashbrook in a 73-72 victory at East Lincoln. The Green Wave are now 5-0.

Jamari Smith led the team with 29 points, with Isaac Byers and Kenneth Greene adding 18 and 13, respectively.

East Lincoln’s Jackson Fannon led all scorers with 37 points, including eight 3-pointers. He added seven rebounds and two assists. His teammate Landon Aungst had 16 points. The Mustangs drop to 1-3.

Tye Clay, Burns: Had 15 points in a 74-64 loss to Lincolnton in overtime.

Jonny Johnson, Burns: Scored a team-high 20 points.

Cal Pass Jr., Crest: Had 10 points in a 48-44 loss to Shelby.

D’Various Surratt, Crest: Led his team with 13 points.

Gabby Mabor Marier, Gaston Christian: Had 14 points and eight rebounds in a 64-38 win over Metrolina Christian.

Cam Newman, Gaston Christian: Led his team with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Deshawn Coulter, Gaston Day: Led his team with 26 points in an 81-69 loss at Concord Academy.

Gavin Fields, Gaston Day: Had 13 points.

Griffen Simpson, Gaston Day: Scored 11 points.

Braylen Todd, Gaston Day: Scored 13 points.

Cross Arias, Lincolnton: Had 15 points, including a clutch 3-pointer which pushed the Wolves into overtime of a 74-64 win over Burns.

Landon Lyerly, Lincolnton: Had six points, seven blocks and 17 rebounds.

Tyler McClain, Lincolnton: Had 12 points

L.J. Smith, Lincolnton: Had a game-high 28 points.

Ty Chandler, North Lincoln: Led his team with 12 points in a 61-43 win over Maiden.

Tanner Lineberger, North Lincoln: Had 10 points.

Denorris Gist, Shelby: Scored 14 points in a 48-44 win over Crest.

Drew Hollifield, Shelby: Had 14 points.

Santana London, Shelby: Had 10 points.

Gavin Jordan, Stuart Cramer: Had 17 points, four rebounds and three steals in a 59-58 win over East Rutherford.

Taelan Whitley, Stuart Cramer: Earned a double-double with 11 points, 19 rebounds and three blocks.

Girls basketball

Amani Neely led her team with 25 points as Forestview took a 77-55 win over Bessemer City. The Jaguars are now 6-1.

In addition to Neely’s effort, Tralyn Phillips (12 points) and Blair Riley (11 points, seven rebounds, five steals) joined her in double figures. Miangel Thompson also contributed eight points, seven rebounds, nine steals and 10 assists.

Nykira Arrington, Ashbrook: Had a team-high 16 points in a 68-29 loss to East Lincoln.

Kionna Pettus, Bessemer City: Earned a double-double with 25 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.

Imani Rhodes, Bessemer City: Earned a double-double with 19 points and 21 rebounds.

Kiara Anderson, East Lincoln: Fell just shy of a double-double with 25 points, nine assists, six steals and four rebounds in a 68-29 win over Ashbrook. East Lincoln is 5-0.

Emma Montanari, East Lincoln: Had nine points, nine rebounds, five steals, four assists and five blocks.

Lane Pethel, East Lincoln: Scored 15 points to go with seven rebounds.

Happy Ahroon, Gaston Christian: Finished with a triple-double (17 points, 18 rebounds, 11 blocks) in Gaston Christian’s 34-31 win over Metrolina Christian.

Akela Taylor, Highland Tech: Had 12 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in a 47-43 win over Piedmont Community Charter.

Resse Thomas, Highland Tech: Had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Addison Grice, North Lincoln: Had 14 points and seven rebounds in a 45-37 win over Maiden.

Ally Smith, North Lincoln: Had 14 points, five rebounds, six steals and two assists.

Oshauna Holland, Stuart Cramer: Earned a double-double with 37 points and 13 rebounds to go with four steals and two assists in a 53-49 loss to East Rutherford.

Thursday, Dec. 7

Boys basketball

Elijah Sherrill, Highland Tech: Had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to go with five assists and two blocks in a 49-32 win over Jackson Day.

Girls basketball

Addie McCraw, Highland Tech: Earned a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds in a 43-40 loss at Jackson Day.

Savanni Harris, Hunter Huss: Earned a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 49-43 loss to Hickory.

Myla Hoover, Hunter Huss: Led her team with 14 points and five rebounds.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

Boys basketball

Kellen Karr led North Lincoln with 17 points, allowing the Knights to cruise past Lincoln Charter, 75-60.

A big second quarter allowed North Lincoln to take a 21-point lead into the halftime break. Tanner Lineberger also had 13 points for the Knights.

Girls basketball

Ally Smith, North Lincoln: Had 18 points and seven rebounds in a 51-39 loss to Lincoln Charter.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

Boys basketball

Stuart Cramer’s Taelan Whitley recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, along with six blocks in a 57-49 win at East Lincoln. The Storm are now 2-3.

Darien Floyd, Cherryville: Scored 11 points to go with six assists and five steals in a 66-46 win over CHASE.

Antron Patterson, Cherryville: Had 13 points, five rebounds and five steals.

Rayshawn Sewell, Cherryville: Scored 12 points, four steals and three assists.

Jackson Fannon, East Lincoln: Led his team with 20 points in a 57-49 loss to Stuart Cramer.

Gabby Mabor Marier, Gaston Christian: Earned a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds in the Eagles' 70-62 win over Concord Academy.

Cam Newman, Gaston Christian: Scored 23 points to go with eight assists.

Joe Rhyne, Gaston Christian: Had 16 points, four assists and three rebounds.

Deshawn Coulter, Gaston Day: Led the Spartans with 18 points in an 89-55 win over Hickory Grove Christian..

Kurt Hunter, Gaston Day: Finished with 11 points.

Chase Owens, Gaston Day: Had 15 points.

Griffen Simpson, Gaston Day: Scored 14 points.

Braylen Todd, Gaston Day: Scored 12 points.

Cooper McCraw, Highland Tech: Had 11 points in a 66-56 win over North Gaston.

Yoel Mussie, Highland Tech: Scored a team-high 25 points.

Connor Redmond, Highland Tech: Scored 11 points.

Elijah Sherrill, Highland Tech: Had 11 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Caleb Nixon, Kings Mountain: Led his team with 21 points and eight rebounds in a 61-58 win over Cox Mill.

Cross Arias, Lincolnton: Had 12 points and four rebounds in an 85-46 win over Avery County.

Landen Lyerly, Lincolnton: Earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

L.J. Smith, Lincolnton: Had 28 points and eight rebounds.

Christian Jones, Mountain Island Charter: Led his team with 23 points in an 80-62 win over Valor Prep Academy.

Camryn Jones, Mountain Island Charter: Had 14 points and five rebounds.

Jayden Massey, Mountain Island Charter: Scored 15 points.

Ben Heavner, North Lincoln: Had 10 points in an 85-41 win over West Lincoln.

Tanner Lineberger, North Lincoln: Had 17 points.

Ty Sanders, North Lincoln: Led his team with 19 points.

Girls basketball

Stuart Cramer sophomore Oshauna Holland led all scorers with 38 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome East Lincoln’s balance in a 68-59 loss in overtime.

Kiara Anderson led the Lady Mustangs with 22 points, along with five rebounds and five assists. Emma Montanari (19 points, 10 rebounds) and Abbie Hege (15 points, 14 rebounds) each earned a double-double in a winning cause.

East Lincoln improved to 4-0, while Stuart Cramer is 2-3.

Maggie Earl, Burns: Led her team with 16 points in a 71-44 loss to Forestview.

Krista Davis, Cherryville: Had 19 points, five rebounds and three steals in a 55-17 win over CHASE.

Amani Neely, Forestview: Had 13 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists in a 71-44 win over Burns.

Tralyn Phillips, Forestview: Led her team with 22 points to go with seven rebounds, five steals and five assists.

Blair Riley, Forestview: Scored 10 points to go with six rebounds and four blocks.

Miangel Thompson, Forestview: Had 11 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Katie Fangman, Highland Tech: Led her team with 20 points in a 57-47 win over North Gaston.

Addie McCraw, Highland Tech: Earned a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Whitney Brown, North Gaston: Had 15 points in a 57-47 loss to Highland Tech.

Jaleila Littlejohn, North Gaston: Led her team with 16 points.

Ashlyn Black, North Lincoln: Led her team with 27 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 81-39 win over West Lincoln. The Knights are now 4-0.

Addison Grice, North Lincoln: Had 15 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Ally Smith, North Lincoln: Had 17 points, seven assists and seven steals.

Monday, Dec. 4

Boys basketball

Gavin Jordan scored 22 points in helping Stuart Cramer to its first win of the season, a 66-37 victory over South Iredell. The Storm are now 1-3.

Taelan Whitley also contributed nine points, seven rebounds and five blocks.

Cordarius Glenn, Bessemer City: Scored 17 points in his team’s 59-49 win over CHASE. The Yellow Jackets improve to 2-4.

Tristan Gordon, Bessemer City: Led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points.

Girls basketball

Oshauna Holland led Stuart Cramer with 21 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and four assists in a 67-44 win over South Iredell.

Hadley Womack added 16 points and eight steals, while Ellia Barajas scored 16 points and had two blocks. Lauren Humphrey finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds.

The Storm are now 2-2
