Kimberly 22, Fond du Lac 21

KIMBERLY - The Papermakers rallied from a 21-7 third-quarter deficit to beat the Cardinals at Papermaker Stadium and remain undefeated.

Kimberly scored on a 25-yard pass from Carson Pendleton to Bryson Vieth on fourth-and-5 to pull within 21-20 with 6:31 remaining. Kimberly lined up for a two-point conversion and after an offsides penalty by Fond du Lac, Marcus Doucette ran up the middle to score the conversion for a 22-21 lead.

Fond du Lac marched into Kimberly on the ensuing possession - including a conversion on fourth-and-4 to extend the drive - but Kimberly’s Landen VanOfferen tipped a pass and Brody Beck came down with the interception with 1:15 remaining.

The Fond du Lac defense held and forced Kimberly to punt, and the Cardinals took over at their own 8 with 48 seconds remaining. Thomas Meyers then sealed the win for Kimberly with an interception near midfield on a desperation heave.

Fond du Lac led 14-7 at halftime with two touchdowns in the second quarter on a 39-yard pass from Connor Klapperich to Kalvin Mullins and a 1-yard run by Tanner Dalske with 14 seconds remaining in the first half.
