Free New Hanover County pre-screening for high school, middle school athletes scheduled

The New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society and New Hanover County Health Department will again be holding free screening examinations for middle-school and high-school athletes and cheerleaders in New Hanover County for the 2023-24 school year.

Exams will be held on Thursday, June 1, at the New Hanover County Health and Human Services building, 1650 Greenfield Street in Wilmington. This will be the only date for the free screenings. All students who plan to participate in a sport or cheerleading squad are required to have a screening examination.

Girls screenings will start at 5:30 p.m.; boys screenings will start at 6:30 p.m. They are available for any private or public school student in New Hanover County.

Prior to arrival, all NCHSAA required forms must be filled out. Rising ninth graders & transfers should list the high school that they will attend in the fall. Copies of completed forms will not be provided; please bring a cell phone to take a photo of your completed physical.
