In free agency, Nashville Predators pick up forward Gustav Nyquist
The Nashville Predators and new general manager Barry Trotz stayed busy Saturday, the first day of free agency in the NHL.
After agreeing to terms with defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Ryan O'Reilly, the Predators did the same with 33-year-old forward Gustav Nyquist.
According to Sportnet's Elliotte Friedman, Nyquist's deal is two years for $6.37 million.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has 175 goals and 253 assists in 703 career games in his 11-year NHL career. He had 11 goals and 16 assists in 51 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. He spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Detroit Red Wings.
The move leaves the Predators with $13.7 million in salary-cap space, according to capfriendly.com.
All of this news comes a day after the Predators put forward Matt Duchene on unconditional waivers for buyout purposes.
