Former Titans All-Pro safety Kevin Byard released by Eagles after 10 games in Philadelphia

Former Tennessee Titans All-Pro safety Kevin Byard had a short stay in Philadelphia.

The Eagles announced Friday that they have released Byard after he played 10 games last season following a midseason trade from the Titans in October.

GENTRY ESTES: How Kevin Byard really feels about that Titans trade

Byard's release will save Philadelphia up to $13 million in cap space. He compiled 75 tackles and an interception for an Eagles defense that wilted down the stretch. The Eagles, a Super Bowl contender heading into December, had a late-season slide that produced a wild card round exit after they coughed up the NFC East title to the Dallas Cowboys.

Byard, 30, completed his eighth NFL season in 2023 and should still be a solid contributor in the secondary for a team. The MTSU alum is a two-time All Pro and one of the most accomplished defensive backs on the market.

Byard was traded in October from the Titans to the Eagles for defensive back Terrell Edmunds and fifth-and-sixth round draft picks in 2024.
