Former Texas SS David Hamilton to make first MLB start for Red Sox
Red Sox infielder David Hamilton's first MLB at bat will have to wait, but the former Longhorn still made an impact in yesterday's extra innings loss.
He won't have to wait long though, as Hamilton's set to make his first MLB start today, hitting eighth while at shortstop vs. Minnesota. Despite Pablo Reyes returning from injury, the Texas-Ex replaces Kiké Hernández while Reyes, who had been shouldering shortstop duties, moves over to second base.
Hamilton's MLB debut occurred last night in the eighth inning, after Masataka Yoshida took a walk. With Boston down one, Hamilton replaced Yoshida as a pinch runner and promptly showed one of the plus tools in his bag: his ridiculous speed.
