Former Texas A&M star Dexter Dennis tallies career-high in Dallas Mavericks’ loss at Houston Rockets

Rapper Suga Free once said, “I’mma stay ready so I don’t gotta get ready,” which was certainly the case for former Texas A&M star Dexter Dennis on Friday night in Houston.

Without superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Dennis and the Dallas Mavericks lost 122-96 against the Rockets on Friday night at the Toyota Center. Dennis, however, had a phenomenal individual performance.

In his third regular season game for the Mavericks, Dennis made the most of his opportunity in limited action. The first-year shooting guard recorded 18 points on an efficient 8-of-11 field goal attempts with five rebounds and four assists in 17 minutes on the court.

Before Friday, the former Aggies star appeared in two games for Dallas in back-to-back days, on Dec. 1 & 2 against Memphis and Oklahoma City. In seven total minutes of action, Dennis combined to record four points and two rebounds.

Dennis is currently on a two-way contract with the Mavericks, splitting time with Dallas’ G-League affiliate, the Texas Legends, who play in Frisco.
