Former Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff falls in Columbus Clippers debut

Recap: The Guardians acquired 32-year-old pitcher Jerad Eickhoff (0-1) from the Lexington Counter Clocks of the independent Atlantic League on June 20. Eickhoff, who once struck out seven straight batters in a game with the Phillies in 2018, was 3-4 this season with a 6.16 ERA. He had struck out 40 batters in 49 ⅔ innings. Thursday he threw for the first time for the Columbus Clippers. He lasted five innings, gave up five earned runs, walked five and struck out one. The Clippers mustered only two runs, the first coming on a Marcos Gonzalez ground out and the other on a Gonzalez sacrifice fly.
