These former Packers made the initial 53-man rosters for other NFL teams

You know about the New York Packers, but don't discount the Chicago Packers.

With the initial 53-man rosters released this week, several former Packers will be suiting up for new teams, including a certain quarterback under center for the Jets. Here's a rundown of players making that first cut:

Aaron Rodgers is one of five ex-Packers making the New York Jets

Broadway Aaron has been one of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason, and several former teammates with the Packers will suit up with him for the New York Jets. With Aaron Rodgers leading the way, the Jets roster includes receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, offensive tackle Billy Turner and safety Adrian Amos.

Lazard caught 60 passes to lead the Packers last year, with six touchdowns.

Notable Jets cuts included backup quarterback Tim Boyle, a former backup with the Packers, as well as ex-Packers receiver Malik Taylor and offensive guard Adam Pankey.

The Chicago Bears will feature four ex-Packers

The Packers will open the season at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sept. 10, and several former players will be on hand. That includes tight end Marcedes Lewis, a late addition to the Bears roster in the preseason, as well as guard Lucas Patrick, wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and tight end Robert Tonyan.

Tonyan caught 53 passes last year to finish third on the team in receptions, with two touchdowns before signing with the Bears on a one-year contract in March.

These players were part of the 2022 team and are now elsewhere

  • Jarran Reed, defensive tackle, Seattle Seahawks. Reed signed a two-year deal with Seattle in March; he spent the first five seasons of his career there before one year with the Chiefs and last year in Green Bay.

  • Dean Lowry, defensive end, Minnesota Vikings. The Packers will see Lowry this year after he spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Packers, recording 15.5 career sacks and 252 tackles.

  • Krys Barnes, linebacker, Arizona Cardinals. The undrafted player made the 2020 Packers and stayed for three seasons, though he spent a large chunk of last season injured and singed with the Cardinals in March.

Other former Packers you definitely remember, like Davante Adams, Corey Linsley and Za'Darius Smith

Davante Adams, wide receiver, Las Vegas Raiders. He was first team All-Pro for a third straight year last year, his first with the Raiders, and led the league with 14 touchdowns. He's now caught 100 passes three of the last four seasons. He made five Pro Bowls during his eight seasons with the Packers.

Corey Linsley, center, Los Angeles Chargers. After seven seasons in Green Bay, Linsley made All-Pro second team for the Chargers in his first year with the new club in 2021. Last year, he played in 14 games yet again.

Za'Darius Smith, defensive end, Cleveland Browns. A two-time Pro Bowler with the Packers over his three years, the edge rusher played last year with Minnesota and made another Pro Bowl but was traded in May to Cleveland in an exchange that featured a number of draft picks.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, wide receiver, Kansas City Chiefs. He was a deep-play threat for four years with the Packers before signing in Kansas City, where he won a Super Bowl ring last year and caught 42 passes.

Jamaal Williams, running back, New Orleans Saints. After four seasons in Green Bay, he went to Detroit for two years and scored a league-leading 17 touchdowns with the Lions last year. This year, he's with New Orleans in the first of a three-year deal.

Micah Hyde, safety, Buffalo Bills. One of the more famous "one that got away" stories in Packers lore, Hyde is now 32 years old and entering his seventh season in a successful run with Buffalo. He spent his first four NFL seasons with the Packers.

Taysom Hill, tight end, New Orleans Saints. OK, he never actually suited up for the Packers, but fans still remember him from the 2017 preseason when the Packers let him go and he developed into a useful multi-positional talent with the Saints. This will be his seventh season in New Orleans.

Jimmy Graham, tight end, New Orleans Saints. He's back where his standout career started after two seasons in Chicago. He played for the Packers in 2018 and 2019.

Oren Burks, linebacker, San Francisco 49ers. He played four seasons in Green Bay, making a difference largely on special teams, and now enters his second year with the 49ers.

J.K. Scott, punter, Los Angeles Chargers. The former draft pick didn't have an altogether strong three years with the Packers, but this will be his second year with the Chargers after he worked 17 games last year.
