Former Knoxville Catholic basketball star Akeem Odusipe transfers to Tusculum

Former Knoxville Catholic basketball star Akeem Odusipe returns to East Tennessee with his transfer to Division II Tusculum University.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound forward graduated from Catholic in 2020. He played last season at Kent State.

Odusipe started his college career at Vanderbilt. In his lone season for the Commodores, he played 11 games, including eight conference games and one SEC Tournament game, and had six points on 3-of-7 shooting, 13 rebounds and two assists.

Odusipe, who is from Lagos, Nigeria, transferred to Kent State. In his two seasons there, he played 39 games and averaged 6.1 minutes per game.

At Catholic, Odusipe was a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and a 25-4 Irish team coached by Mike Hutchens to its only Division II-AA state championship in 2020.

He finished his prep career with 1,258 points, 909 rebounds and 192 blocks. He was a two-time Division II-AA All-Region East player and a two-time All-PrepXtra first-team player. Odusipe also played football and soccer in high school.
