Former Cathedral, IU guard Armaan Franklin comes home for Pacers NBA draft workout

Former Indiana guard and Cathedral standout Armaan Franklin will be back in Indianapolis on Wednesday as one of six participants in a Pacers draft prospect workout, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

Franklin was a three-year starter at Cathedral, averaging 23.8 points per game as a senior to earn a spot on the 2019 Indiana All-Stars team. He spent two seasons at IU, earning a starting job as a sophomore and averaging 11.4 points per game in 2020-21. After coach Archie Miller was fired at the end of that season, Franklin entered the transfer portal and opted not to return to IU when Mike Woodson was hired, instead transferring to Virginia. He started all but one game for the Cavaliers over the past two seasons and averaged 11.8 points per game.

Franklin is one of three players slated to be part of the workout Wednesday with Indiana ties. Notre Dame forward Nate Laszewski will be part of the workout after averaging 10.0 points per game in five seasons with the Fighting Irish. Johnell Davis was an Indiana All-Star out of Gary's 21st Century, averaging 25 points and 10.1 rebounds as a senior. This year he averaged 13.8 points per game for a Florida Atlantic team that reached the Final Four.

The other three players at the workout will actually be higher-level prospects. Leonard Miller, a 6-10 big man who averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds this season at G League Ignite, is projected to be a first-round pick. Baylor's Adam Flagler and Miami's Isaiah Wong, both potential second-round picks, have played in Final Fours. Flagler was a reserve on Baylor's 2021 national championship team and averaged 15.6 points per game this season. Wong, a three-time All-ACC pick, scored 16.2 points per game this season and led Miami to the Final Four.
