The Denver Broncos made a difficult salary cap crunch move by trading away four-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Ryan Clady to the New York Jets. They replaced him by signing Russell Okung to a five-year deal worth $53 million.

Predictably enough, Clady was going to find a way to make headlines by taking a shot at someone, and he did that with Okung, per Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News.

“Obviously, Seattle didn’t want Okung. But obviously Denver wanted him. I don’t feel like he should have (gone) in there without an agent, maybe. It’s not exactly the greatest deal ever put together (for) a tackle. But, it is what it is. You got to move on. … I’m here now and I’m ready to prove myself.”

As Mehta reminded us, the Broncos signing of Okung carries no guaranteed money and they can opt out of the contract any year they want. So Okung’s decision not to have an agent is definitely questionable.

That being said, Broncos fans will take it. If he plays up to his contract, they’ll happily keep him on board.

But on the other hand, this is something you’d think Clady would just ignore. It’s hard to blame him if he’s somewhat sour over being dealt and having another guy take his spot.

Clady was a great player for the Broncos, but after missing all of 2013 and 2015, the departure was inevitable. Time to move on.
