Former Arkansas, Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt announces end to broadcasting career

OXFORD — Former Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt announced on Wednesday that he is stepping away from CBS Sports following an 11-year career in broadcasting.

In a note posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the 65-year-old Nutt said he wanted to spend more time with his grandchildren and his family.

"I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work along(side) such a talented team," Nutt wrote. "I have greatly cherished my time with CBS Sports Network and all the announcers I was fortunate to sit alongside. Thank you all for the incredible memories. I will miss you all!"

Nutt spent the bulk of his head coaching career at Arkansas, where he compiled a 75-48 record. He took over the Ole Miss program in 2008, winning the Cotton Bowl in consecutive years before concluding his tenure with two losing seasons that resulted in his firing.

When Ole Miss found itself in trouble with the NCAA under Hugh Freeze, Nutt's successor, Nutt sued the university, alleging that the school had embarked on a smear campaign to pin Ole Miss' problems with the NCAA on him. The two sides settled in 2017.
