Former Alabama OL Chris Owens waived by Giants

Former Alabama offensive lineman Chris Owens can’t seem to catch a break. Last week, he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two days later, he was signed by the New York Giants. Now, he has been released just one week after reaching an agreement with the Giants. The Giants announced the move via the team’s Twitter page.

Owens spent six seasons at Alabama. He played different positions along the offensive front. He contributed primarily as a center but also played both tackle and guard. Following the 2021season, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Steelers.

Unfortunately for Owens, he will now hope for an opportunity to be picked up by a third team. He flashed some potential in his time at Alabama. Hopefully, a team will give the Texas native an opportunity whether it be on the active roster or practice squad.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to keep an eye on Owens’ professional career as well as other former Alabama football players in the NFL.
