Former Alabama DL Phidarian Mathis drafted No. 47 by the Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have selected former Alabama defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis with the No. 47 overall selection in the 2022 NFL draft.

Mathis becomes the second Alabama player to be selected during the second round joining former Tide receiver John Metchie.

Mathis will join fellow former Alabama defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne in Washington.

Mathis was a terror for Nick Saban and Alabama during the 2021 campaign. Accumulating a total of nine sacks from his interior defensive line position.
