Football-Elliot shines on the field as suspension looms

Sept 10 (Reuters) - It was just another 100-yard game for Ezekiel Elliott who ran like a carefree Dallas Cowboys rusher on Sunday and not the polarizing player who is facing potential suspension from the NFL. Elliott suited up for the Cowboys after an injunction filed against the NFL allowed him to start the season despite a six-game suspension due of allegations of multiple physical altercations with his former girlfriend. The second-year player rushed for 104 yards on 24 carries to help Dallas win a season-opening matchup with the New York Giants 19-3. Elliott was a consistent force throughout the night, adding five catches for 36 yards, and was not the distracting headline that he had in the off-season. After winning the NFL’s rushing crown as a rookie in 2016, Elliott was handed a six-game suspension by the NFL on Aug. 11 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy following a year-long investigation into alleged physical assaults. NFL arbitrator Harold Henderson upheld the suspension, but a Texas judge ruled Elliott didn't receive a fair hearing during his appeal.
