Florida jumps in USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank after Week 7 win
Billy Napier has not seen much success during his tenure with Florida football when it comes to road games, but his Gators managed to earn a huge comeback victory at the South Carolina Gamecocks this past Saturday to give the team some steam heading into the toughest part of their schedule.
Coming into the game, the Orange and Blue were No. 43 in USA TODAY Sports’ weekly re-rank. Having earned its fifth win of the season against two losses, Florida saw a tidy 10-spot improvement in the Week 7 update, moving up to No. 33 overall.
As far as Florida’s Southeastern Conference peers are concerned, the Georgia Bulldogs remain at No. 2 behind the Michigan Wolverines. The Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 12), Tennessee Volunteers (No. 14), Ole Miss Rebels (No. 20) and Missouri Tigers (No. 22) round out sister schools in the top 25, while the LSU Tigers (No. 27), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 29) and Texas A&M Aggies (No. 48) join the Gators among the top 50.
The Gators have a bye this week ahead of the biggest game on the schedule against the Bulldogs. The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will take place at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, on Oct. 28, with a kickoff time of 3:30 p.m. EDT set. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports.
