Florida football hosting defensive line target on return visit Thursday

The Florida Gators last hosted Pike Road (Alabama) defensive lineman Malik Blocton in January for one of the team’s Junior Days. The goal was to get him back on campus sometime over the spring, and Swamp247 is reporting that Blocton has locked in a return trip for Thursday, March 23.

Blocton got to spend time with defensive line coach Sean Spencer and staffer Kali James on his first trip, but this time he’ll get a chance to see the team actually practice. Observing meetings and workouts should give him a better idea of what the university has to offer.

“It was amazing,” Blocton said of his January visit. “Some of the things that stuck out to me today were coach James. He was real down to earth. He kept it real with me the whole time. He made sure I was good the whole time I was here.”

Auburn is currently leading the race right now for Blocton, according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine. The Tigers have 51.6% odds to land him with Alabama in second at 15.5% and Clemson in third at 13.3%. Floria is fourth with 5.8% but could gain some ground on the others with a second trip now planned.

Blocton is a four-star recruit by Rivals.com’s measure and is a three-star prospect according to 247sports on On3. The On3 industry ranking has him at No. 473 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 41 among defensive linemen. The 247Sports composite is a bit more bearish on him at No. 568 nationally and No. 56 among those at his position.
