The third annual Buckeye Running Sunset Invitational cross country meet, taking place Friday, Aug. 25, at Oeder Lake in Morrow, Ohio, has a depleted roster after five teams backed out due to concerns there would not be athletic trainers on site. According to race director Steve Nester, the meet did have emergency medical technicians and police personnel at the meet.

Fairfield, Mason, Seton, St. Xavier and Sycamore were among the 17 schools listed as participants in the meet.

As of Aug. 21, Buckeye Running had consolidated the schedule to run a single girls race at 7:20 p.m. and a single boys race at 7:55 p.m. due to high temperatures in Greater Cincinnati since Sunday, Aug. 20. While the race is taking place in Warren County, Butler and Hamilton County are under excessive heat warnings until 8 p.m.

Moeller is also holding its annual Primetime Invitational on Friday night as well. In an email from Athletic Director Frank Russo, race directors made the decision to eliminate the junior coed race, which was scheduled to be the first race of the evening. The varsity races are set to begin at 7:55 p.m., 8:35 p.m., 9:15 p.m. and 9:55 p.m.

According to MileSplit, which has live and final results for all the races, 39 high schools and 20 middle/ junior high schools are set to participate in the Primetime Invitational at Christ's Church in Mason.
