Fantasy Football: Waiver targets for Week 5

It was an exciting and interesting Week 4, where we saw the breakout of multiple surprise players. Injuries and breakout stars are going to send fantasy managers scrambling to waivers this week, and we can full you in on who to target before waivers clear.

1. Jaleel McLaughlin, RB, Denver Broncos

Once usual starting running back Javonte Williams missed time with a hip injury on Sunday the Denver Broncos gave the vast majority of the work to McLaughlin. In just ten touches McLaughlin went off for over 100 yards and a touchdown. Should Williams miss any time at all McLaughlin becomes a hard start. Stash him away even if Williams comes back healthy, he looked good and could see more opportunity.

2. Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans

3. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay wide receiver core has been a bit of a question mark going into the season with the likes of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, and Romeo Doubs seeing a varied amount of work each week. Doubs has been the most consistent of the bunch to this point, and while Watson is likely the one with the higher ceiling, you can’t argue with the consistency that Doubs has brought through four games. If you need a wide receiver you could certainly do worse than Doubs. Fire him up as a hesitant WR2 in PPR leagues.

4. Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals

This Cardinals team is a ton of fun to watch, it’s full of tough and gritty players who feel like they can win each game behind the locker room leader Josh Dobbs. One of Dobbs’ targets who popped up last week was rookie Michael Wilson, who saw a heap of targets and plenty of production against a solid 49ers’ defense. Coming away with seven receptions on seven targets with two touchdowns is nothing to sneeze at, expect him to continue to be involved in this offense.

5. Josh Palmer, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Palmer should be long gone in deeper leagues but if he is available on your waivers run and get him. Palmer has become the clear number two receiver with the injury to Mike Williams, and Palmer looks to also be the certified deep threat of an offense that throws the ball a ton. Palmer is going to have some big weeks mixed in with some busts, but he should be on your roster as a solid WR2 if he is available.
